Our History
Garrett Transport Ltd is a family run business with a head office based in Saffron Walden, Essex. With additional operating centres in Newmarket, Suffolk & Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
Husband & Wife team, Simon & Michelle Garrett established the business in June 1995, with Simon driving and Michelle providing admin and financial back up.
Since those early days there have been many changes, including the acquisition of E G Hicks in August 2008 and more recently changing Pallet networks in August 2019. The business continues to steadily grow, currently employing a workforce of 30 full and part time workers with the next generation now on board. Stephen and Natalie providing services to the business and youngest child Jack now employed in the business on a permanent basis working along-side Simon and Michelle.
Despite becoming a larger enterprise, Garrett Transport is still very much a family run business.

Two award-winning companies come together as Garrett Transport joins Pallet-Track
Saffron Walden-based Garrett Transport has become the latest family-owned business to join the Pallet-Track network.
Garrett Transport invented and patented the award-winning PalletSock, an innovative and environmentally friendly reusable pallet sleeve to protect goods in transit, will cover the CB postcodes which encompass Essex and Cambridgeshire regions, including Ely.
Managing director Simon Garrett said: “It was time for a change as we take the next step in our business development. I particularly like the member involvement with Pallet-Track and the ethos of the network as it shares many of our own objectives in terms of quality of service and the strategic use of technology.
“We are a completely different type of business to what we were five years ago and it is this evolving corporate landscape that will help us to continue to expand our business. I believe this move will help us to continue to diversify and develop,” said Simon.
The development of the FORS Bronze award holding Garretts, which has more than 20 trucks and three hubs, was accelerated by the acquisition of Hicks Transport in 2008.
